our tech minimalist philosophy

The rapid evolution of computers, cell phones and the internet in the past 30 years or so has overwhelmed our human senses with way too much stimulation to integrate in a healthy way. While there are many useful aspects to all this technology, the overall effect of these innovations has not been healthy, in our opinion.

And yet, we love to be able to text our friends and family, take amazing photos with just our phones, do complex research easily, and find warm communities around the world. These are all wonderful things that nourish the soul and mind. But, our devices highjack our dopamine system and we find ourselves more anxious and emotional, and less peaceful and joyful, than we used to be. How do we find our own unique balance in the midst of all this?

We do not have any easy answers, and are struggling just like you to find the way through this maze. We will not push or encourage our clients to engage in more technology than they want to. We don’t hate technology – it is so useful for connecting us to each other. All over the planet, we and our fellow humans are in a learning curve – figuring out how much is too much and what truly serves us in our lives. We are all fumbling our way forward to find the balance.

By tuning into our own gut and heart awareness, we can refine our sense of when we need to put our phones down and enjoy simple pleasures. We think tech can find a right-sized niche in our life – it has its place within a happy, joyful life that is centered on real people, actual conversations in person, and enjoyment of life, animals, nature and each other.

If this sounds good, contact us about your design, business or technology needs and we’ll find the best way forward together.
